Paint Technician (17 Weeks over 3 years)


Benefits


This Scheme lasts 3 years, and the benefits to your Centre after each year are:

  • On completion of their first year, Apprentices will have received a thorough grounding in the technical skills that will enable them to start working on Toyota vehicles. They will have an understanding of workshop practice and Health & Safety, be able to identify paint codes, different surfaces, different substrates, paint types and types of painting equipment.
  • By the end of the second year, Apprentices will be competent in the following areas; sanding methods (wet & dry), colour matching, etch primers, two pack primers, painting of plastics, paint mixing, solid colours, water based paints, IPA legislation.
  • At graduation, Apprentices are fully qualified Toyota Licensed Paint Technicians. They will have advanced their skills in the following areas; spraying, three stage pearlescent, fitting decals and rectification of paint problems.

Education

Theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained at our National Training Centre, along with workplace assessments, combine to deliver the very best in Apprentice training.

Qualifications

Upon completion of the 3 year Scheme, Paint Technician Apprentices will be awarded the following qualifications:

  • IMI Technical Certificate
  • NVQ Level 3 in Paint Refinishing
  • Key Skills Certificate
  • Advanced Apprenticeship Certificate
